Involvement

Innovative Design/Technology Implementation:

In order to reduce cost, our STLP Team constructed our High-Fidelity Manikin out of affordable materials such as LED lights, USB speakers, and a Raspberry Pi. LED lights were used to replicate Cyanosis, USB speakers were used to create sound effects and symptoms, and a Raspberry Pi was used to create the GUI.

Global Communication/Creative Communication:

First, we contacted the teachers in charge of our school's medical department both in person and via email in order to find out what features they wanted incorporated into our High-Fidelity Manikin. Next, Our STLP Team contacted TriStar Greenview Regional Hospital and they were able to supply us with unused CPR manikins. Then, we contacted a BGISD Tech Specialist and he assisted us in-person with setting up the Raspberry Pi and speakers.

Computational Thinking:

Throughout the development of the project, our STLP Team continually interacted with the Medical Arts Academy to enhance functionality of the manikin and gather medical knowledge to incorporate into our project. Also, by letting the Medical Arts Academy physically test the project, we were able to find bugs, issues, and provide the team with an updated list of possible functionalities.
